• Quotas = 110,000 and 7,000
• Daily bag limit 3/day and 2/day

North of Falcon

• Chinook: June 1-28 Columbia River area
• Coho and Chinook: June 28-Sept. 30 Columbia River area
• Quotas = 5,400 Chinook and 88,200 coho
• Two salmon/day, only one Chinook

South of Humbug

• Chinook: Aug. 29-Sept. 7
• Daily bag limit 2/day
• Coho: June 20-Aug 31, under same regulations as the Cape Falcon to Humbug.

Columbia River sport salmon seasons

Buoy 10 upstream to Tongue Point

• Steelhead and coho salmon: open to adipose fin-clipped steelhead and adipose fin-clipped adult coho (larger than 16 inches) Aug. 1 to Dec. 31
• Fall chinook: open to chinook (fin-clipped or not) Aug.1-31 with a combined daily bag limit of  two adult salmon or steelhead in combination, of which only one may be a chinook.  During Sept. 1 – Dec. 31, retention of chinook is prohibited but the combined daily adult bag limit may include up to three adipose fin-clipped coho. 

Tongue Point upstream to Bonneville Dam

• Summer chinook: open to adult chinook (fin-clipped or not) from June 22 – July 5. Open to jack chinook (fin-clipped or not) from June 16 – July 31.  The combined daily bag limit is two adults and five jacks.
• Coho salmon: open to adipose fin-clipped adult coho (larger than 16 inches) Aug.1 to Dec. 31
• Fall chinook: open to adult chinook and jacks (fin-clipped or not) during Aug. 1 – Sept. 13 from the Tongue/Rocky Point line upstream to a line projected from the Warrior Rock Lighthouse (Ore.) through red buoy #4 to a marker on the lower end of Bachelor Island (Wash.).  From this line upstream to Bonneville Dam, retention of chinook adults and jacks is allowed Aug. 1 – Dec. 31. In open areas/periods, the combined daily bag limit is two adults (only one of which may be a chinook) and five jacks.

Mainstem Columbia River above Bonneville Dam

• Coho: open Aug. 1 – Dec. 31 (all coho retained downriver of Hood River Bridge must be adipose fin-clipped)
• Summer chinook: open to chinook adults (fin-clipped or not) July 1-31, and to chinook jacks (fin-clipped or not) June 16 – July 31
• Fall chinook: open to chinook (fin-clipped or not) Aug. 1 – Dec.31
• Combined daily bag limit is two adults and five jacks.

Sockeye

• Retention of sockeye allowed concurrent with steelhead fisheries (season delayed)
  • Start date dependent upon upriver spring Chinook impacts

• Sockeye considered adults and included in daily adult bag

The Commission also initiated contested case proceedings to revoke the commercial fishing licenses of two people convicted of three or more fishing violations in three years.

ODFW staff reviewed the draft Diamond Lake Management Plan. Diamond Lake, located about 80 miles east of Roseburg in the Cascade Mountains, is one of Oregon’s premiere trout fisheries. Public comments about the management plan will be accepted through the Sept. 4 Commission meeting in Grants Pass, when the Commission will consider the final plan. While comments will be accepted through Sept. 4, members of the public are urged to get their comments in no later than Aug. 25 so they can be included in the Commission’s information packet.

The Commission is the policy-making body for fish and wildlife issues in the state. The seven-member panel meets monthly and the next scheduled meeting is June 5 in Salem. June agenda items include adoption of 2009 big game tag numbers, consideration of 2010 big game regulations, adoption of 2009 coastal fall chinook and coho regulations for terminal fisheries and adoption of the Cervid Disease Surveillance List for disease testing requirements at private cervid (deer and elk) ranches.
